


The world is not always pleasant, there are rules to follow, but blind consumerism for the sake only of pleasure does not lead to happiness. While some people may like this it is never a good idea to limit anyone's access to knowledge. It may only be a matter of time before books are censored if we do not watch ourselves. Access to news media that is objective is being denied with the talk about Fake News everywhere one tries to find information. There is talk about raising tariffs to control another country which will lead to a shortage of goods and higher prices. While the world we live in right now is not about consuming for consuming's sake as Huxley's. Dystopias seem to be the trendy topic in reading as we are again facing up to a fascist world leadership that believes the little people have too much and wants to control access to thought. The Sparknotes guide compares the similarities between this and George Orwell's 1984. This is one of my favorite novels and may be fitting to read during the political times in which we live. I had originally bought this with the intent to review this with a book group, but that did not work out.
